Summary and Suggestion

a. Purpose of Practicum

  1. To enable the practicumer student teachers to develop teaching skills and pedagogy.
  2. To encourage the practicumer student teachers to practice English
  3. To allow the practicumer student teachers to gain a broader regional and world wide vie
  4. To compare the similarities and differences of educational system in other country.

b. Procedures of Practicum

The procedure during practicum includes class observation, team teaching, teaching practice, and evaluation and reflection. The class observation held on the first week, after observation the practicumer has to write a reproduced lesson plan for every meeting. The team teaching held on the second week, in this period the practicumer together with the cooperating teacher should have a cooperate teaching. In this case, the practicumer should handle the laboratory activity, including handled  the pre-lab and main activity, and the the cooperating teacher handled the post-lab. For the teaching practice, held on third week. The practicumer should make three lesson plan with different topics and should teaching in three days. The supervisor observed two times with different topics. The fourth week the supervisor gave the evaluation for the practicumer performanced.

d. The Challenges of Practicum

The challenges of practicum exist in the class management, with 50 students in each class, the practicumer has to make a louder voice, a bigger handwriting in the board, call the different students for recitation, divide the students into smaller groups and ask the students to work quietly.

e. Overall Impression

As a practicumer student teacher really make me thought that to be a teacher is the precious moments. By learning I am teaching and by teaching I am learning. Give an education to others make me feel that I have to keep to be a learner for the rest of my life. I wish I will be the one who to become the future educators of future generations. For other impression, in making a lesson plan, we have to present the values and application of the lesson for each meeting. It can make a good lesson for students that everything that their learn are  related to  their real  life.  Also, the students showed the respect to  a practicumer student teacher, respect with greeting, listen when the practicumer teaching as like the real teacher, friendly, and many other things.

Finally, this is the best way that God gave to me and I am not regretting anything here. I am really grateful to be here as an exchange students. I have learned a lot of things that made me more mature, especially open my mind wider. Since I stay in Philippines for one month, I have already know more about myself, how my strengths and my weakness, and how does it feel when we out of the comfort zone. I have fight and learned hard to get a best scores and experiences, I am so grateful that God gave me the best result and I always believe that the fight, effort, and patience will gain the best result. The beautiful things await.

f. Suggestion for Future Improvement

Suggestion for the future, the practicumer students teacher can implemented all the positively teaching experiences from other country including how to be a good teacher, how to manage the class, how to make a best quality lesson plan, and many other things. Can compare of both countries and can improve the English skills and pedagogy.

Farewell Party ^.^

We were do farewell party before we go back to Indonesia on 28 August. In the party we were give our performance like dancing the traditional dance, sing a song and etc. We are so thankful for all of things in the Philippines given. We have to back to Indonesia, I will miss all of things in Philippines.



Then, In the last meeting I and My Cooperative Teaching ( Ma'am Marivic), My Supervisor ( Ma'am Busbus), Ma'am Lagos and Symkaye take some pictures. I am so happy for this moment.

Actually, I am so thankful for all of people who support me, especially when I was prepared my Lesson plan, my Instructional Material, and teaching demonstrations. I could not forget my heart in Philippines. Thanks for Allah, Thanks to SEA MEO. Mabuhay!

Happy Holiday – Week 4

In the last week, we were go around in Baguio City, we also city tour in Bahay na Bato ( Stone House) and La Union with Ma'am Lagos and Ma'am Tess. La Union has a good view and very beautiful beach. Near by there, we also look for Museum of stone ( Bahay na Bato). We went to La Union in the morning and we arrived in the noon. Ma'am Lagos has prepared some good meals for us. She also give us the time to enjoy the beach. Because In Baguio, we were always feels cool weather.


Bahay Na Bato is unforgettable place, because there are a lot of variations and forms. We were so happy and enjoy the trip.

Teaching Demostration (Teaching Practice) - Week 3

In Third weeks, it was an opportunity for me to teaching demonstration in front of the class full time and I should totality in teaching all of students. My Supervisor Ma’am Stephenie Ong Busbus or Ma’am Busbus, she is a good supervisor. She always support us everytime, she knew some difficult things for us during the Teaching Demonstration.



My first teaching demostration was in Courage class, as SPS Class or sports program. They are so active, I knew most of them was so active to move and sometime make it noise. But I believe I can do it better. Courage Class was so noise especially in that time they always cheering on me. I have already understand this problem is same like when I teach students in Indonesia. But I think it was effect when I ask them for games in the begining, midlle and for last meeting to take their attention for me. I was teach them about Makato and Cowrie Shell, the legend story from Thailand. Makato was help me, because I have heard this material also before I am in Indonesia. Makato is a narrative text and I was try to improve my knowledge in learning strategy like suggestion from Ma’am Marivic.

Observation on Teacher

Procedures of Teaching
In procedures of teaching, the teacher must adjust to the lesson plan that has been made. Teachers must implement procedure of teaching in accordance with the learning procedure on lesson plan like the approach, method, and model.

Time Management, Organizing Activities and Classroom Management
One subject need one hours for each meeting. Teacher allocate time well so that all learning procedures are realized. Teacher organized the activities so well. Use the groups study is the exact method to organized students activities for the 50 students in class. Teacher divides students to smaller group to allow each member to participate in the group discussion or output. Each groups consist of 4-5 student.

Problem-solving
In problem solving, teacher use inquiry learning in the worksheet. Teacher as a facilitator to guide the students to solve the problem, think critically, and related the lesson to the real conditions.




In the second teaching demonstration was teach in Chivalry. Chivalry is SPS class also, the students in chivalry politely and active. I teach them about elements of short story. This class analysing short story by Makato and Cowrie Shell. I teach the students based on the lesson plan. I am so happy when the students ask to me and they also could explain about what we learn.



Then, In the last day my students and I take some picture as memorize and I never forget this moment. I hope someday I will meet them again.


Thanks for SEA MEO who support me to take this chance, this experience will unforgettable in my life. 
In the night, Ma'am Busbus was ask for us who in English major to diner in Azalea. Thanks for Ma'am Busbus ^.^

Teaching Demonstration- Week 3



 As in the schedule, we have to doing Teaching Demonstration in classrooms in ( 13-15 August), but the Philippine had typhoon disaster. So all of levels in school are suspended. It help me also to prepare my Instructional Materials and my teaching demonstration on 16 and 17 August. 


On 15 August the agenda is meeting with Dean from Saint Louis University and making video with others exchange students.

Teaching Assistant ( Teaching Plan) – Week 2 ( 6-10 August)



During 6-10 August, I was following Teaching Assistant. I was teach 4 classes in everyday, there are Chivalry, Confidence, Competence, Courage I teached and managed the class with Ma’am Marivic B. Murillo. Ma’am Marivic give me chances to handle in some sessions. I learn and teach the students based on Lesson Plan and my strategies. Actually for me the important thing that I should improve are how to managed the time, how to improve student’s skill and etc.

A. Curriculum

The school are use K to 12, ICT curriculum standards for K-12 schools in the Philippines will serve as a framework for the technology integration in various academic content area instructions from kindergarten through grade 12.

  As a guide, curriculum decisions by providing student performance expectations in the areas of knowledge, skills and attitudes, and provide examples of classroom activities and instructional strategies utilizing ICT that will guide teachers as they design instruction to help their students meet learning expectation.

Science content and science processes are intertwined in the K to 12 Curriculum. Without the content, learners will have difficulty utilizing science process skills since these processes are best learned in context. Organizing the curriculum around situations and problems that challenge and arouse learners’ curiosity motivates them to learn and appreciate science as relevant and useful. Rather than relying solely on textbooks, varied hands-on, minds-on, and hearts-on activities will be used to develop learners’ interest and let them become active learners.
As a whole, the K to 12 science curriculum is learner-centered and inquiry-based, emphasizing the use of evidence in constructing explanations. 
B. Teaching Plan Rrelated to Your Major

Lesson plan/ Teaching Plan  includes learning objectives, learning assessment, learning content, learning producedure, and assignment. Learning objectives includes objectives from cognitive, affective and psycomotor domain. Learning content includes subject matter, refferences, instructional material, concept, skills, and values. Learning procedures include preparation ( review, motivation, and apperception),  presentation, generalization and application. The teacher have to prepare the instructional material that needed to the lesson.


In 6 -7 August, we were learning about complex and compound sentences, in 8-9 we learn about informative text and 10 we were do summative test. On 9 August, I have collected my lesson plan to ma’am Marivic. After I give the lesson plan, she was comment my lesson plan, she said my lesson plan is good and she ask me to improve some interesting strategies in my lesson plan and 10 August she said it is good. So I hope it would be alright and become good when I implemented it.

Day- 3 ( Classroom Observation: Pedagogical Content)

In 3rd day, I was observing 3 class, There are Competence, Chivalry and Courage. I am so happy because I could observe my cooperative teaching Ma'am Marivic. She is really friendly, when the first meet she ask to me about how many hours that I have to spent in the class and introduce me for all of students in the school. 
Ma'am Marivic explain to me that each class are different. The students in Competence is a regular class, Chivalry and Courage is SPS class that consent on sport programs like Volley ball, basketball, chess and etc. The students always greet when they meet the teacher. In the first time I into the class and introduce my self they said " Good Morning Teacher ! Mabuhay!" loudly, it makes me happy to remember. 




A. Teaching Methods

Ma'am Marivic sometime use cooperative learning method for lesson. It depends on what characters of students have. She divided 6 until 9 group, sometimes she made it in pairs assessment. It is the way to make students learn and interesting class. 

B. Interesting Media/ Learning Material and Innovation

The important thing also I have to learn about how to made creative and innovative media to teach the materials. Some material that are used Multimedia Projector, laptop, Cartoline papers, manila and etc. For me it really inspired, because I have to maximize the time with this media. 

C. Sources and Technology.

Sources of learning that teacher used are text book and education video.

D. Authentic Assessment

The teacher use cognitive, affective, and psychomotric aspect for giving assessment. It also depend on bloom taxonomic in lesson plan and daily lesson plan. During the activity, the teacher should explain the instruction clearly and ending for questions or conclusions. The cognitive domain should be question and answer; the affective domain could be ask student to compare, relate and show the results; the pyscomotor domain could be assess with make a diagram, pathway, product,and etc, that related the subject matter
